Hey there, I’m Winifred.
I too perceive the world differently; drawn to liminal spaces and standing between the worlds since I was very young.
When I first stepped onto my Witch Path, I had to blindly feel my way forward, alone, without the support of a trusted mentor or like-minded community, one that truly honored personal agency, valued collaboration over competition, while providing authentic teachings.
I longed for a teacher to guide me, someone who could lend wise insight from “the road” of their lived experiences; capable of empowering me to explore and integrate my own sacred truth into a real life practice.
I sought a mentor who didn’t have a hidden agenda, unchecked ego or wasn’t hung up on rigid dogma and hierarchy. One who wasn’t secretly holding back essential processes or key information within these sacred mystery teachings due to unresolved scarcity issues.
It took me years of stubborn persistence, struggle and spiritual isolation, but I never gave up on pursuing my Witch Path.
I am very grateful to say that eventually my path did cross with incredible mentors who inspired and guided me to becoming the Witch I am today, but I wished I had met them decades (and some painful misteps) sooner than I did.
My own struggles left me thinking, THERE HAS GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY to support Earth Mystics on their journey.

No, The Witching Well is NOT a Coven. Nor is it aa specific tradition. While it offers many of the same benefits of being in a Coven, it functions like a Collective. Traditionally, Covens have revolved around a specific structure and connected to specific ways of practice. While Covens can be wonderful, they can also have limitations and strict protocol/scheduling/requirements to belong. The Witching Well is a Community that gathers together around the celebration of Earth-Centered Spiritual Traditions, but is NOT about any one specific Tradition or one way to practice. We will invite, encourage and support you to discover your own way to work your magick and spiritual path. We do have guidelines to maintain integrity, ethics and healthy boundaries so that we can create a safe and sacred space for everyone in The Well and a framework for learning and growth.
Yes, we welcome all levels of experience. There is a whole library of Witchy goodness (videos, workbooks, resources) and monthly mentoring & guidance inside our Community Care calls to support your learning and growth. Be sure to go through the WELCOME & START HERE section so that you get the most out of your experience inside The Well.
That is totally fine! While many of the members see this as a powerful word to be reclaimed, you don't have to feel the same way or use that as a way to identify yourself to be part of The Witching Well. Plenty of members use other words to identify their path: Earth Mystic, Seeker, Seer, Healer, Pagan, etc. We will encourage and support you to find what resonates for you.
Inside the Well, we have folks of all levels of experience; some are very seasoned, having practice for many years, some newer and others somewhere in between. If you are looking to engage deeper into your practices, re-ignite your smouldering Witch flame, learn a different approach or desire all the benefits being in community with kindred magickal folk provides, then you will want to join us.
We are committed to facilitating an inclusive, safe space for community, collaboration and growth. Everyone is welcome to become a member, but we stand clearly aligned with LGBTQIA2s+ folk. We are an actively anti-racist organization that prioritizes the intentional care and attention for our BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ members. Yes! We record our monthly workshops, mentoring sessions, community rituals and other special events. We broadcast live online AND record so you can watch at a time that is best for you. We change up the days and times we host TWW sessions and workshops to accommodate more schedules and timezones. Recordings are uploaded shortly after recording, usually about 24 hours.
No, you DO NOT have to be on Facebook and you will still have a full experience. We host a Community Forum that is NOT on social media at all and you can access it right inside the membership portal. While there is a private facebook group for those who happen to be on there, but you are not required to join it. The choice is yours on which way you choose to engage with community.
Honestly, it is totally up to you. Folks who show up and participate are growing deeper connections and roles within the community. We will invite and encourage you to participate in community because we know the healing power of those connections, but in the end, the decision is up to you.
We recommend a tablet, laptop or computer, but a smart phone works too and a good connection to the internet. There is a wonderful, user-friendly, free Kajabi app for the Membership Portal for your smartphone which gives you access to all the materials, videos, etc right from your phone! We predominantly use Zoom for our video conferencing platform.

Who is Winifred Costello?
The “Official” Bio
The Witching Well is the manifestation of Winifred’s dream to create an intentional, mystical community that inspires, supports and empowers Earth-Centered Seekers to nurture their Witch souls and manifest their magick.
Winifred is an Intuitive Healer, Earth Mystic, Witch and Folk Magick Practitioner. She is the Founder and Mentor of The Witching Well Community and has owned her Witch business, AwenTree, since 2006. Winifred has over 30 years of direct experience, knowledge and training in Paganism, Witchcraft, Folk Magick, Faery Seership, Tarot, Reiki, Spirit Work and Energy Healing.
Winifred has taught at Templefest, Templehearth, Canadian Conjuration Camp Out, The School for Psychic Studies and AwenTree. She has been on a number of podcasts including Biddy Tarot, Living Tarot, Snort & Cackle and Holistic Business.
Winifred has been a Reiki Master Teacher since 1997 and is a LuMarian (Divine Mother) Energy Practitioner. She is a NGH Certified Hypnotherapist and Certified Past Life Regression Facilitator.
Winifred is grateful to her many mentors and teachers who have contributed to her lifelong journey as an Earth Mystic and Witch. A forever student, she recently completed Year 3 in Temple of Witchcraft Mystery school and continues her education there.
