Ritual: Walking the Ways of Persephone & Demeter
In our Ritual we will work with both Persephone and Demeter, seeking the tenacity, courage and strength each of them claimed in their dark night of the soul and depths of adversity. The mythos of Persephone and Demeter speak to ancient cycles of life, death and rebirth, of separation and reunification, and the power of transmutation and regeneration. It is also a story steeped in the power of love that exceeds limitations and creates change.
We will begin our magick working with Demeter, honoring our sacred grief and divine rage. Demeter’s own Menin (Divine Rage) generated by the loss of her stolen daughter, Persephone, was so potent that she stopped the world and brought winter to the land. She wandered the Earth seeking her child’s return. In our ritual, we will seek Demeter’s support in helping us to navigate our grief and rage so that we can transform these powerful emotions into empowering forces.
Then we will seek the clever strength, perseverance and wisdom of Persephone, joining her in the Underworld. There we will work our magick for healing transformation and liberation, to alchemize and overcome oppressive forces so that we can reclaim our agency and take up our Crowns of Sovereignty as Persephone was able to become the Queen of the Underworld. Together we will light a Torch at the Crossroads so that the light can guide us in the dark.
As we bring our ritual to a close, we will reflect on the deeper meaning of working with the waning and waxing of the solar tide. We will seek to better understand how we can harness our magick during cycles of darkness and light.
Ritual is a powerful sacred space to remember and reclaim our authentic selves, nourish our roots, empower our visions, and deepen our collective strength.
Once we have completed our magick, we will ground the working in our bones and the earth for hope and continued healing.
After the Ritual, attendees are welcome to stay for socializing and sharing in a light snack.
Winifred and Anthony both have many, many years of experience and training in mindfully guiding deep magick within community ceremonies. Our Rituals are intentionally kept small in the number of attendees, so we can facilitate a more focused and deeply supportive magickal experience.
The monthly Rituals at AwenTree are facilitated by Winifred and Anthony. Participants are invited to actively participate in co-creating deep and sacred work inside a safe, ritual space held within a magickal circle of protection.

Winifred has over 30 years experience, training and practice in Paganism, Witchcraft and Folk Magick Traditions. She weaves together her knowledge in the Craft with the spiritual tools of Energy Healing, Reiki and Tarot to help students create empowered transformation in their lives. She is an Intuitive Tarot Reader, Reiki Master Teacher, Certified Hypnotherapist and Past Life Regression Certified Facilitator. She is the Proprietress of AwenTree and the Founder & Mentor of the Witching Well Community. Winifred is an Initiated High Priestess in the Temple of Witchcraft Tradition having graduated from the 5+ year long mystery school and ministry training.
About Anthony Gladu:
Artist, Gardener, Herbalist, Magickal Practitioner and Tarot Reader. Anthony has been on his spiritual journey and practicing Witchcraft for many years. He has completed the coursework of Year 3 in the Temple of Witchcraft Mystery School. Anthony is excited to be able to facilitate safe, sacred space for folk to gather together for ritual and a bit of magick.
